Traveling with SANUK and finding Wat Bodhi Si Kaeaw in Mukdahan, Thailand

One of the sites mentioned in the latest SANuk guide is Wat Bodhi Si Kaew. If ypu look at the piture and read the SANUK blurd you will see one of the difficulties I often notice in these books. The sala shown is not the sala that is at the site, or described by the book. Pra Ubosot (so called “Sim Isaan” with 4 metres with and 6 metres lenght was built in 1888 engraving with woods. Its gable is engrazed wood decorated with crystals while its walls anaglyph stucco engraved withflowers and crystals decoration. I would like to find the Ubosot pictured. This little village wat is a treat. Its is clean and well kept. The monks well behaved and informative. If you are taking the alternate route I mention. You can see the wood gable and flowers as the photosphere passes th ubosot.

You went to the wrong temple. That looks like the sim boran at Wat Po Si Kaew (which is a common temple name) that is 10 or so kilometers north of Nong Sung, along the highway.

I wrote the name phonetically, in karaoke Thai “Po” and “Bodhi” are the same. Anyhow, I’m quite sure that D on this map (http://goo.gl/maps/8jXFN) is the temple with the sim that is in the picture you posted.
