Along the Mekhong River Chiang Khan, Loei to Sri Chiang Mai, Nong Khai, Thailand Part of the old Hippy Route

I got out of “khao san road on the mekhong” aka Chiang Khan as soon as I photographed pseudo pindabaht and stopped at Keang Khut Ku for a mighty fine cup of espresso and some shots of the rocks in the morning mist.AS the river recedes the rocks and beaches begin to appear along this, nearly 200 kilometer of river.
The are plenty of places to stop and admire the views with Laos to the left and the hills of Isaan to the right.
Pak Chom the main town along the way has 3 resorts, reasonably priced. One with wifi and a restaurant.
I would suggest this trip to anyone interested in beauty, quiet and nature.
Whatever you do, do not spend the night in Chiang Khan as it is overpriced, overcrowded and a sham.
I would also offer an option on arrival at Sri Chiangmai…

There are plent of other sight, temples, statues and in season waterfalls along the way. You might wat to take a break from the river here, as the next 200 kilometers are flat and somewhat repetitious and visit  Phu Pra Bat in Udon.
This old hippy route from Loei to Khong Chiam in Ubon is well worth a visit in the winter also a mighty fine bike ride
