A Visit to Mahasarakham, Thailand and Isan’s biggest 3D art event

maha-foodThe NNT, The National News Bureau of Thailand announced Maha Sarakham holds Isan’s biggest 3D art event and I was anxious to visit the happening so decided to stop the night in the town on the way back to Sakon Nakhon Everything new in town seems to be happening North of the Chii River at Mahasarakham University’s new campus while the town center sort of simply stagnates Over the past few years I spent most of my time near the new campus, but since what I wanted to see was near the bus staion stayed at the Green Park Hotel near the bus station The place is perfectly adequate, with a rather odd wifi log-in that works fine one you suss it. I started searching for the 3D art event and could find no sign of it and everybody asked had not a clue, so I decided to check at the Knowledge Center and the Amphor  Office…

All I could find out was that it happened, actually not much happened  and the grand event was over. Looking at the Provincial website I could find no evidence the event ever took place. The congestion at the Sermthai Complex was not the best of choices for any event. Everything in the area with the exception of the Green Park hotel seems to have gone downhill. The Night Food Market a bit over 2 years ago was not only dirty but had a unpleasant smell. I stopped at the OTOP Center enroute to Knowledge Park. I had not seen it before. All in all it was pretty standard and I found the prices of the small gifts more expensive than other OTOP outlets.

The are a lot of places to visit in Mahasarakham tow, but the area arounf the bus station holds little of interest
