Urban Planning and the Quality of Life in Northeast Thailand, or Not

condo-kkA recent visit to Khon Kaen led to a sore neck due to looking at all the new condo coming signs. Beung Kaen Nakhon and it’s encircling road, which has been bogged down in congestion for years is seeing 1,000s of new units in a number of new complexes being built Annd more ridiculously a new condo comple is going up in the middle of town on Sri Chant road. There has been gridlock for years in areas of downtown Khon Kaen, but now it has reached a point where traffic is at a standstill for hours a day throughout town.

And, as usual instead of enforcing proper planning and zoning it seems that government officers simple continue to line their pockets…

A few years ago there was a study done that showed such things as modern commuter buses and even a mono-rail serving central Khon Kaen.0 Of course that seems to have been just another exercise in money laundering.

During the 2011 floods the road around beung Kaen Nakhon was often flooded do to poorly designed drainage What of the Ministry of the Interior, Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning? Or the Ministry of Transport and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning?

Sure the Standard of living might be rising for some, but hte Quality of life continues ti nose dive for all as greed and  corruption are the leaders of Thailand
