12 Heet,12 Traditions,,Ninth Lunar Month, Making Merit by Offering Food to the Dead

On the thirteenth day of the vaning moon the villagers prepare their food and other things and divide them into four Portions: for family; relatives; the dead; and monks.
These things are wrapped with banana leaves in small packs, and before dawn. left under the trees and in front of the monuments of the dead. Monks say prayers, and then the dead are asked to eat and take things for their own….
